In-software advertising works like advertising in other medias, e.g. web sites or TV. Software gets audience through its functionality, display ads through embedded customized browser.

One known software application doing In-Software Advertising is Yahoo Instant Messenger. On the bottom of YIM GUI, there is a small rectangle window showing ads.

Other than desktop applications, web based applications are good medias to do advertising. For example, meebo displays ads on its bottom expandable pane or background sometimes. Meebo’s bottom expandable pane is a flash player playing video ads.
